My Role
Target Audience
Whether for work or relocation to a new country, the target audience is people in need of learning Spanish dialects.
I took into account Spanish speakers who are already familiar with the language and non-Spanish speakers who have never learned the language.
Learn the phrases and pronunciation of a Spanish dialect with the choice to skip the foundations of the language
For Spanish Speakers:
Learn the phrases and pronunciation of a Spanish dialect while also learning the foundations of Spanish
For Non-Spanish Speakers:
Ideation 💡
At the start, I considered whether the application would serve as a reference tool or a course.
During my competitive analysis I concluded that there are apps that work excellently as a Spanish reference tool for all dialects, however, there are no course-driven applications that go beyond the standard Latin American/European Spanish.
This led me to work on a solution that was course-focused.
Wireframes
After sketching out user flows, I created low-fidelity wireframes and conducted a usability test over Zoom with someone who only spoke Spanish in a Mexican dialect.
Feedback Highlights:
• It was not clear on the home screen that there was a learning tree
• Flags shouldn't be used to symbolize dialects, since dialects are spoken across multiple countries.
• Create a stronger onboarding process

Track Your Progress
Students can find their progress reported on their profile page, as well as how many days straight they've gone without missing a lesson.
On the other hand, any bookmarked lessons will be saved to the student's library where they can revisit their favorite exercises, or find brand new ones.
